British
Accreditation Bureau News - Happy Anniversary ISO 9001!
|
Announcement of the ISO 9001 standard's 20th year
and it's latest update.
October 2007 marks the 20th anniversary of ISO
9001: the most established quality standard in the world.
First introduced
in October 1987 as an international response to the British Standard
BS5750, ISO 9001 is now recognized in over 170 countries worldwide. The future of ISO
9001 is assured and next year a minor update will be introduced.
What does this
mean if you are currently registered to ISO 9001:2000? Firstly, don't be
concerned, there will be very
little impact, as the proposed changes to the standard are quite modest.
When the change
takes place, each
registered organization will be given approximately one year after its
publication to convert to the revised version of the standard.
As soon as the
exact changes are known, we will provide a further update. For more information on
the ISO 9001 standard, please visit our ISO 9001 certification page.

Notes to Editors
The British Accreditation Bureau is
the leading certification body for accrediting people, services
and organisations. Our reputation was established in 1965 as a
division of Salford University Business Services. In 1997, the
Secretary of State for Trade and Industry approved the use of the
word ‘British’ in our new corporate title (The British
Accreditation Bureau), in recognition of our pre-eminent status.
Today, our core business is the accreditation of people, services
and organisations. We certify organisations to the latest ISO
standards and design and manage bespoke accreditation schemes.
Such schemes are based on the establishment of standards, which
can be developed to be recognised company-wide, industry-wide,
nationally or internationally.
