October 2007 marks the 20th anniversary of ISO 9001: the most established quality standard in the world.

First introduced in October 1987 as an international response to the British Standard BS5750, ISO 9001 is now recognized in over 170 countries worldwide. The future of ISO 9001 is assured and next year a minor updated will be introduced.

What does this mean if you are currently registered to ISO 9001:2000? Firstly, don't be concerned, there will be very little impact, as the proposed changes to the standard are quite modest.
