CIMA and British Accreditation Bureau press release.

CIMA AND BAB COLLABORATION

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and the British Accreditation Bureau (BAB) have joined forces to promote the benefits of independent accreditation.

CIMA Members in Practice are being urged to join a growing number of professionals that recognise the importance of independent accreditation in helping them to succeed and grow their businesses.

CIMA will be promoting BAB’s Certified Practitioner (CP) award to its 1,400 strong body of Members in Practice. The first part of the campaign will be a special mailer to more than 200 holders of CIMA's prestigious Practising Certificate.

A key attraction for qualifying CIMA members will be entry onto BAB’s Consultants Register; the UK’s largest database of accredited professionals. In its position as the UK’s leading Certification Body for people accreditation, BAB has forged links with a number of professional bodies and Government agencies. This collaborative approach has proved a highly successful solution for end users seeking to work with quality assured advisers and consultants, by removing uncertainty from the selection process.

Jonathan Webb of Webb Development has been a Certified Practitioner (CP) for the past 12 years and is the British Accreditation Bureau’s (BAB) CP Gold Award winner for January 2006. Webb commented:

“Becoming accredited by BAB has enabled me to assess my performance to quality benchmarks and through the feedback of the annual BAB project assessment and client review processes, I am provided with a keen insight into my clients’ thinking. This has proved an invaluable source for continuous improvement and endorsement from BAB has helped me to win and retain business.”

CIMA’s Director of Professional Standards, Peter Douglas, said:

“We regard the latest move as a significant benefit to members and look forward to working with BAB to help our members grow their businesses through independent assessment of their competence.”

The Credit Transfer route into the Certified Practitioner award has benefits for members of professional bodies in terms of savings in both time and cost and will be available to CIMA’s MiP from January 2006. David Fenn, BAB Chief Executive said:

“Credit Transfer entry to the Certified Practitioner award recognises the experience and prior learning of Practising Certificate holders. Credit Transfer offers qualifying CIMA members with a fast-track route to independent accreditation with the benefits of recognition and lead generation to look forward to.”

To establish Credit Transfer arrangements with BAB, professional bodies should contact Samantha Hicks on 0870 606 2001 or email samantha.hicks@british-accreditation.co.uk
